More than 400 Offshore Alliance, AWU and ETU members have endorsed a new enterprise agreement with Inpex, ending a bargaining campaign that delivers the strongest conditions ever secured in the Australian offshore oil and gas sector.
The ETU was at the bargaining table, our members and Northern Territory Organiser David ‘Strawbs’ Hayes can be proud of what’s locked in: Job security, with permanent jobs protected and no outsourcing to low-wage labour hire.
- Job security. Permanent jobs protected, no outsourcing to low-wage labour hire.
- Remuneration. Industry benchmark rates and allowances secured.
- Career progression. A new competency-based framework with clear pathways.
- Representation rights. Stronger delegates’ rights, improved right of entry, better support in disciplinary matters.
- Overcycle arrangements. Better roster flexibility for offshore workers.
The agreement should now set the floor for bargaining across the offshore and onshore oil and gas sector and expects other tier-one operators to match it rather than fall behind.
Members reached this outcome after enduring sustained media scrutiny, public criticism from industry lobby groups, and challenge to their protected industrial action in the courts.
