The CEPU has scored a major victory in its fight to keep Canberra bureaucrats and conservative politicians out of the South Australian power industry
CEPU and ETU members campaigning and lobbying has produced results, with the government forced into a backdown on the expansion of their unfair building code into the power industry.
Late last week Employment Minister Michaelia Cash quietly issued a revision to the code that strengthened the exemption clauses available to essential services providers.
If South Australia Power Networks re-apply for an exemption to the code there is little doubt that they'd be give one, company-wide.
CEPU South Australia secretary John Adley said that the move represented a massive tactical victory in the 1SAPN campaign.
There is still more to be done though! South Australia Power Networks have yet to indicate that they'll apply for the exemption under the revised rules, so we need as many members and supporters as possible to make sure they know that's what South Australians want and expect!
