The Union has launched a special relief & recovery fund for fire-affected members
Australia’s 2019-2020 bushfire season has already been the longest, hottest and most destructive on record.
So far, the fires have burned through 11 million hectares of land, taken the lives of 23 people and over a billion animals, and destroyed more than 2,000 homes. This toll is expected to grow as the fire season continues through the coming months.
It’s a challenging and tragic time for so many in our community.
On behalf of all our members, we extend sincere thanks to those who have reached out asking how best they may support working Australians whose lives have been impacted by this crisis.
While some formal channels for aid have been established, including by community groups, governments and charitable organisations, the task of recovery and rebuilding is immense, and will come at great personal cost for those affected.
To this end, the Electrical Trades Union of Australia has created a special fund for those wishing to offer financial support to members of our Union experiencing need.
This fund is managed at the discretion of the Electrical Trades Union, Divisional Executive Committee. All donations received will go directly to ETU members whose primary place of residence has been destroyed or severely damaged by the fires. Any funds that may remain after affected members have been looked after will go to a charity directly engaged in helping victims of the bushfires.
For those wishing to donate, the fund details are:
