MEDIA RELEASE: Concerns over reduced work safety standards as Abbott Government removes 457 visa safeguards

Licensed electricians fear workplace safety standards will be compromised by the watering down of 457 visa requirements, allowing an influx of international workers without proper monitoring and assessment.

The Electrical Trades Union said licensed tradesmen fear the risks associated with workers who have not been appropriately trained and licensed to Australian standards, which may result in actions that put themselves or others at risk. Read more here
